The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children aged 3-12 should not exceed 1-3 mg at one time. For children under 3 years old, it is best to consult with a medical professional before giving any amount of melatonin.

Is 10 mg of melatonin OK for kids?

It is generally not recommended for children to take melatonin supplements. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that children avoid taking melatonin supplements except under the supervision of a doctor. If a doctor does recommend melatonin for a child, it is usually in a dose of 0.3 — 0.5 mg, which is much lower than the 10 mg dose that is typically recommended for adults.
