Who is eligible for child health Plus?

Child Health Plus (CHP) is a New York State health insurance program for children of low-income families. To be eligible for CHP, a child must be:
• Under the age of 19
• A New York State resident
• Not eligible for Medicaid
• Not covered by other health insurance
• Within certain income limits

Parents or caretakers can apply for CHP online at the New York State of Health website, or they can contact their local Department of Social Services office for more information.

Who is eligible for family health Plus in NY?

To be eligible for Family Health Plus in New York, you must meet the following criteria:

— Be a resident of New York State
— Have a household income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level
— Not be eligible for Medicaid
— Be a U.S. citizen or a qualified alien
— Not be enrolled in an employer-sponsored health insurance plan.

In addition, the following individuals may also be eligible for Family Health Plus:

— Uninsured parents, stepparents, or caretaker relatives of a child in the household
— Pregnant women
— Uninsured young adults between the ages of 19 and 20 who are no longer eligible for Medicaid
— Uninsured individuals between the ages of 21 and 64 who are not disabled.

What is the maximum income to qualify for NYS health insurance?

To qualify for New York State health insurance, your annual income must be less than 400% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). As of 2021, the maximum income to qualify for health insurance in New York State is $51,040 for an individual and $104,800 for a family of four.
