How do you grind and roast coffee beans?

To grind and roast coffee beans, you will need a coffee grinder and a coffee roaster.

First, choose your desired beans and measure out the desired quantity. Place the beans into the grinder and set it to the desired grind setting, depending on how you will be brewing the beans (e.g. espresso, drip, etc.). Grind the beans until they reach the desired consistency.

Once the beans are ground, place them in the coffee roaster. Set the desired temperature and roast time, depending on the desired flavor profile. Some roasters will have pre-set profiles for specific beans. Roast the beans until they reach the desired roast level (e.g. light, medium, or dark).

Once the beans are roasted, remove them from the roaster and allow them to cool. Once cooled, store the beans in an airtight container to preserve freshness. Enjoy!

Should I roast my coffee beans before grinding?

Generally speaking, it is best to roast your coffee beans before grinding them. Roasting the beans allows for greater flavor extraction, as the oils in the beans are released during the roasting process. Grinding the beans too soon after roasting can cause them to lose some of their flavor. Additionally, grinding beans that are not sufficiently roasted can result in an uneven grind and an inferior cup of coffee.
