What is wrong with my bowels?

It’s not possible to diagnose a medical condition without an in-person examination. However, there are several common issues that can affect the bowels, such as irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, and diarrhea. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it is important to talk to your doctor about them to determine the cause and possible treatment options.

What are the signs of bowel problems?

The signs of bowel problems may vary depending on the cause of the issue. Common symptoms include abdominal pain and cramping, constipation, diarrhea, alternating constipation and diarrhea, bloating, gas, fatigue, weight loss, and changes in stool color or consistency. More serious signs of bowel problems include rectal bleeding, persistent nausea and vomiting, fever, and unintentional weight loss. If you experience any of these symptoms, contact your doctor as soon as possible.
