How much cash can you take on a plane?

The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) does not impose a limit on the amount of cash that can be taken on a plane. However, it is recommended that passengers declare cash of more than $10,000 to avoid suspicion of money laundering or other illegal activities. It is also recommended that passengers keep cash and other valuables in their carry-on luggage rather than checked luggage, as checked luggage is not always accessible during the flight.
