What are some signs that labor is nearing?

Some common signs that labor is nearing include: increased and/or more frequent Braxton-Hicks contractions, lightening (the baby dropping into the pelvis), a change in vaginal discharge (it may become thicker and more mucus-like), back pain, pelvic pressure, and/or a burst of energy (nesting). Your doctor or midwife can also perform a physical exam to check for cervical dilation and effacement, which can give an indication of how close you are to labor.

What are 3 signs that labor is approaching?

Three signs that labor is approaching include regular and increasingly intense contractions, a change in vaginal discharge, and the passing of the mucus plug. Regular contractions are an indication that the cervix is beginning to open and thin out, and the intensity of the contractions will gradually increase as labor progresses. A change in vaginal discharge is also a sign that labor is approaching, as a clear or pinkish mucus discharge indicates that the mucus plug has been released from the cervix. Additionally, the passing of the mucus plug signals that labor is imminent, as this is a sign that the cervix has opened and thinned out.

How do you tell labor is a few days away?

There are several signs that labor is a few days away. These signs include an increase in Braxton Hicks contractions, a mucus plug coming out of your cervix, an increase in vaginal discharge, your baby dropping lower in the pelvis, and a change in your cervix. You may also experience lower back pain, cramping, and loose joints. Talk to your doctor or midwife if you have any concerns or are unsure about the signs of labor.
