Can I put lotion on my 1 week old baby?

It is best to avoid putting any type of lotion on a baby who is less than one month old. At this age, their skin is very sensitive and can be easily irritated. If your baby’s skin is dry, it is better to use a mild, unscented, hypoallergenic moisturizer. If your baby has a rash, it is best to speak to your doctor before applying any creams or lotions.

Can I use baby lotion on my 1 week old?

It is generally not recommended to use baby lotion on a 1-week-old baby. The skin of newborns is very delicate and tender, and lotions can cause skin irritation and rashes. If your baby’s skin becomes dry, it is best to use gentle soaps and mild moisturizers to keep it hydrated. If your baby does develop a rash, it is best to consult a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.

When can I start Lotioning my newborn?

It is generally recommended to wait until your baby’s umbilical cord has fallen off and fully healed— usually around 1-3 weeks after birth— before introducing lotion to your baby’s skin. When using lotion on a newborn, always be sure to choose a lotion specifically designed for babies and apply it in a very thin layer. Make sure the lotion is completely absorbed into the skin before dressing your baby.
